Sqn Ldr Allan Scott DFM

Broadcast on VE Day 2020

Squadron Leader Allan Scott RAF DFM. A truly remarkable man. His exploits as a Spitfire pilot were charted in a book, Born to Survive and he also featured in a film about the aircraft he loved. He won the Distinguished Flying Medal for his operations as a fighter pilot. Sadly he passed away in September 2020, he always remained humble about his role in the Second World War. His combat roles included taking part in the siege of Malta.

Brenda Churchill

Brenda Churchill Ex-Mayor of Witney talks about her life as Mayor, being a WREN, and her love of life, family and the local community .

Dr Suzanne Bartington

Broadcast on Friday Feb 7th – 8 pm.

Suzanne grew up in Oxfordshire, attending local schools and completed a medical degree at the University of Cambridge and postgraduate education at UCL and Imperial College London. Suzanne is an epidemiologist, councillor, cycling champion, public health consultant and air quality researcher.

Danny Mellin

Broadcast on Friday Jan 3rd – 8 pm.

Up and coming local singer songwriter Danny Mellin started playing guitar at the age of seven. His love for music developed over the years and soon formed a band with his school friends whilst still only nine years old. Hailing from Oxfordshire and starting writing music at a very young age, releasing his first song ‘Without You’ at just 14 years old. Delivered with a strong vocal, Danny’s songs range from acoustic ballads to melodic indie pop anthems full of youthful energy. A great live performer and certainly a talent to watch for 2020 and beyond.

Ags Connolly

Broadcast on Friday Nov 1st – 8 pm.

Ags has true Country music, in fact Ameripolitan music coursing through his veins. Born in Oxford he has lived in Finstock his whole life. His parents moved there with his brother in 1982 and he was born in August of that year. He went to Burford school and worked in Financial services in Eynsham and Thame until deciding to devote his time to music full time which he did in 2015. His first studio album “How About Now”came out in 2014 and his second “Nothing Unexpected”in 2017. His third album “Wrong”is out Nov 1st.

Andrew Prosser

Broadcast Friday Oct 4th – 8 pm.

Andrew has lived in Witney for 20 years and is married with two daughters. He grew up in Essex and studied Business at City University, London. He started his career in manufacturing, working in Germany before settling back down in the UK, where he met his lovely wife (who comes from Berlin) in romantic Slough. He now runs his own company, which helps organisations reduce their environmental impacts. Andrew joined The Green Party last year, although he has been an environmentalist for much longer, and was elected as a Witney Town Councillor in May. He still somehow manages to play football and occasionally tennis, and his main interests are in history and travel.

Dave Oates

Broadcast on Friday Aug 2nd – 7 pm.

Dave is the lead singer with 1000 Mile Highway. He moved to Charlbury in 1992 and has never left! He is married to Jac, has 1 son who lives in Witney with his partner and 2 children and 4 stepchildren who live in Sydney, Texas, Amsterdam and Charlbury. A passionate fan of country music and Americana and particularly Bruce Springsteen (who he has seen 26 times!) as well as a life-long Man City. He has been involved in various local festivals over the years including Charlbury Riverside, Witney Music Festival and LibFest and loves curating the bands and being stage manager for any event that needs help. Dave talks about his love of Americana amongst other genres, his experiences at the Hacienda and playing with Grammy award wining artist John Cruz in Hawaii, check out those shorts!

Robert Courts

Broadcast Friday Sept 6th – 7 pm.

Robert Courts is the MP for Witney and before his election to Parliament, Robert was a self-employed barrister for some twelve years. Robert lives with his wife, Kathryn, and son Henry in Bladon. In his spare time, Robert is an accomplished blues guitarist and enjoys cycling, swimming, and hiking. He is also a diver, giving him a great interest in the maritime environment; he is a member of the Maritime Conservation Society. Robert talks is a serious blues fan and talks passionately about his interest in Polynesian culture, music, family and Winston Churchill.
